Bead Arrays for Performance Evaluation of Fluorescence-based Imaging Systems

In collaboration with Microdrop Technologies (Norderstedt, Germany) and Little Things Factory (Elsoff, Germany), PolyAn has demonstrated the use of its fluorescent Spectrum Calibration Microbeads to spot bead arrays into the inlet/outlet ports of microfluidic chips. Such bead arrays can be used to evaluate and monitor the performance of fluorescence-based imaging systems.

PolyAn’s Spectrum Calibration Microbeads can be applied to evaluate the performance of confocal fluorescence microscopes and other imaging-based systems. The beads can be spotted into arrays and used to monitor day-to-day performance, and comparison of different fluorescence-based instruments. A corresponding application note can be downloaded here.

The Spectrum Calibration Beads contain a mixture of fluorophores that can be excited at any wavelength from 365–650 nm, and allow a performance validation within most common detection channels ranging from 400–750 nm. They are available in sizes from 100 nm diameter to 10 µm diameter with different intensity populations.
